Biesterfeld: Thomas Arnold to be appointed CEO

With effect of April 1st, 2015, Thomas Arnold is appointed CEO by the Supervisory Board of Biesterfeld AG, Hamburg. Thomas Arnold, currently member of the board of Biesterfeld AG and Managing Director of Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH, takes over from Birger Kuck, who will retire after 35 years with Biesterfeld.

Thomas Arnold was appointed to the board of Biesterfeld AG in July 2014. He joined the group in May 2013 as Managing Director at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH. “I appreciate the confidence placed in me. The long-term development of Biesterfeld is a challenging and exciting task to which I will be very happy to contribute. Together with my board colleagues I will promote the growth and international development and expansion“, explains Thomas Arnold.

Birger Kuck began his professional career in 1976 as an apprentice at Biesterfeld, and took continuously growing responsibility within the group. In 1988 he was appointed Managing Director of the newly created subsidiary Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH and established this company`s market position. In 2002 Birger Kuck took overall responsibility for Biesterfeld as Managing Director of the holding Wilhelm E.H. Biesterfeld GmbH & Co. KG and in 2004 was appointed Chairman of the Board of Biesterfeld AG. The group generated net sales of 1,100 m. € in 2014.
