K.D. Feddersen: Distributor of technical thermoplastic polymers with positive results

K.D. Feddersen GmbH & Co. KG, the distributor of technical thermoplastic polymers, is reviewing its positive results from the 20th edition of Fakuma in Friedrichshafen.

In the anniversary year of the Fakuma the Hamburg-based distributor could also look retrospectively at an impressive number – 60 years K.D. Feddersen. “In pole position with leading brands!” was the motto for K.D. Feddersen at this year’s Fakuma. This was evident from both the visual design of the exhibition stand with its Formula 1 motifs and from the successful cooperation with important internationally active polymer manufacturers Ticona und LyondellBasell Industries, a successful partnership for more than 40 years.

AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH, the specialist for novel and applications-oriented plastics compounds and a member of the Feddersen Group for more than 20 years, also generated great interest among visitors to the K.D. Feddersen stand with its own innovative product portfolio.

“Inspiring Innovations –Enabling Transformation, that’s how we view our work as a service provider focused on customers and applications,” explained Karlheinz Schuster, Managing Director of K.D. Feddersen GmbH & Co. KG. “By highlighting the topics of metal substitution and soft touch, we have emphasized issues that have attracted great interest from the specialist public,” Schuster continues.

According to the distributor, the product offered this year featured a number of extremely interesting additions from manufacturing partners. These included products such as high temperature-resistant polyamides and polymers based on regenerative raw materials from AKRO-PLASTIC, a new generation of low-emission, impact-resistant-modified POM from Ticona and modified TPE-O compounds from vtc tpe group.

Amount and quality of contacts approximately constant
"Although there has been a decline of visitors visiting the fair in comparison to last year, the amount as well as the quality regarding our contacts made at the fair have been approximately constant compared to 2008", according to Patrick Bäßler, Application Engineering Manager at Feddersen GmbH & Co. KG. "Besides the colleagues of the sales force, our application engineers had been available to customers during the fair regarding precise technical questions and could consequently localize some very interesting as well as promising projects", Bäßler continues.

"Especially in this economic climate of increasing unpredictability, flexible supply concepts are a competitive advantage, as we got confirmed during numerous conversations on the fair" says Christian Geiser, Supply Chain Manager of K.D. Feddersen GmbH & Co. KG. "Today, no one can afford to tie up their investment in warehouses full of raw materials. That´s why we offer our customers reliable, flexible just-in-time delivery direct to the production facility—even for small quantities," adds Geiser.

K.D. Feddersen was also interested to observe the ever-growing acceptance of Fakuma among the international trade public. Consequently, this fair is set to become increasingly important for the Group with its international operations.
