Polyvantis: Opening of New Technology Center in Shanghai – Focus on Films for Optical and Electrical Applications

Polyvantis, an internationally operating manufacturer of semi-finished products made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polycarbonate (PC), commenced operations at a new technology center in Shanghai, China, on July 14, 2025. With this opening, the company is responding to the increasing demand for application-specific solutions in rapidly growing industries such as electronics, display technologies, and transport.

After an approximately three-year planning and construction phase, the center unites various company divisions – including Research & Development, Sales, and Manufacturing – under one roof. The goal is to shorten development cycles and react more quickly to changing market requirements by closely interlocking these functions.

The new center is an integral part of Polyvantis's global innovation network, which already includes four technical sites in Germany, the Netherlands, and the USA. The Shanghai location's focus is on the development and application of films for optical and electrical purposes. These materials are particularly needed in high-tech applications, such as for display surfaces, electronic components, or lighting systems in the mobility sector.

By expanding its technological infrastructure in Asia, Polyvantis is strengthening its local presence while also increasing its capacities for customer-centric development in the Asia-Pacific region.
