DuPont T&AP: Plans for new plant in China for high-performance materials and adhesives

The US chemical group DowDuPont is planning to build a new production plant for high-performance materials and adhesives at its Zhangjiagang site in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu.

According to a press release, an agreement was signed this week at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. As stated in the recent information, the new plant of DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers (T&AP), a business unit of the DowDuPont Specialty Products division, will be built in the Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park.

The main products to be manufactured there will be high-performance polyamides under the Zytel brand, POM materials under the Delrin brand, thermoplastic polyester elastomers under the Hytrel brand, TPE under the Multibase brand and various silicone grades. No precise figures on capacities have yet been provided. In total, DuPont T&AP intends to invest more than USD 80 million in Zhangjiagang. The opening of the plant is planned for 2020, with full capacity expansion expected to be completed in 2023.

Randy Stone, Head of DuPont T&AP business unit, said: "This investment strengthens our commitment to China and the Asian market as a whole, where we see great growth potential for our business".

DuPont T&AP is building the new plant in response to the growing demand for high-performance materials in the automotive, electronics, consumer goods and other industries, tells the company in his statement.
