Recognition for international market success, contribution to Austria’s economy At a gala evening on April 25th in Vienna’s Palais Liechtenstein, the Export Award in the Industry category was presented to Starlinger & Co. GmbH (www.starlinger.com) in recognition of the company’s exceptional export success. This year for the fourteenth time, a jury of prominent representatives of the media, business, and academe evaluated the export achievements of Austrian companies and bestowed the award on the best contestant in each of five categories: Artisan Enterprise, Trade, Industry, Tourism, and Services. In the presence of all 72 Austrian trade attachés and more than 700 high-ranking guests from business, the academic community, and politics, the Austrian Export Award in the Industry category was presented to Starlinger in recognition of outstanding commitment and an exceptional record of success in export markets. Many years of export experience and a worldwide network of loyal customers have made Starlinger a “global player” in recent decades. With 480 employees, the company has continually expanded its portfolio of products and services in order to reach new markets. “I think what made the difference this year was the fact that we have over 40 years of export tradition and have scored some of our finest successes in difficult markets rather than in Austria’s classic export countries,” commented Angelika Huemer, Managing Partner of Starlinger & Co. GmbH following the award ceremony. “After all, our export quota has exceeded 99% for more than ten years now.” Huemer, together with Mrs. Erna Starlinger-Huemer, President of Starlinger Group, and Senior Officer/Sales Director Hermann Adrigan, received the plaque and trophy presented by Dr. Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Martin Bartenstein, Federal Minister of Commerce and Labour. In recent years, Starlinger has expanded to form an international concern. Starlinger Group includes the subsidiaries SML Maschinengesellschaft m.b.H. (extrusion technology, Lenzing/Austria), SAHM (precision winding machinery, Eschwege/Germany), and MAPLAN (rubber injection moulding machines, Ternitz/Austria) and now employs nearly 1000 persons worldwide. Branch establishments in Chicago und Greenville (USA), New Delhi (India), Moscow (Russia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Peking and Taicang (China), and soon in South America demonstrate the high priority for Starlinger of staying close to the customer. |
