Inhalt/Thematik
The MENA region now boasts some of the tallest buildings on the planet and has used the latest materials and technology. The markets provide a wide range of opportunities for plastics pipe producers. At the next conference on Middle East Plastic Pipes, which takes place 1-3 June at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai, New Products Industries will outline the opportunities for PVC pipes. Al Matin Group will outline the use of pipes in Syria and Noavaran Baspar will highlight the experiences with plastic pipe in Iran.

Researchers have been testing materials for pipes in the high rise buildings of Dubai and the environs. Comparisons have been drawn between different plastics materials for each application. Uponor has examined hygiene aspects of plastic pipes for potable water, and Aliaxis has looked at pipes for drainage in tall buildings. CPVC is being specified for fire sprinklers and in pipes in desalination plants, in research aided by Lubrizol. There are also developments this year in polyolefins for a range of different pipes including multimodal PE 100 from Tasnee, PE 100 RC from Total and PP-HM for sewage from Borouge. Carbon black is extensively used to protect exposed pipe (Cabot and Columbian are among the suppliers).

Among the new developments, Cosmoplast has new plastic pipe for deep well applications.

Large diameter plastic pipelines are being installed in a wide variety of situations. Petrokam Engineering and Krah have been working on pipe for marine outfall applications. Bigger PVC pipes have been manufactured in Pakistan by Shafisons Engineering.

Construction techniques and proper handling of materials are essential for pipeline integrity. Mr Haroon Rasheed of ADSSC will outline the use of plastics in sewerage pipe systems in the United Arab Emirates. BMC Gulf has examined training and certification to improve quality control.

Farassan Manufacturing is a GRP pipe producer with expertise in water, drainage and sewerage including system design. Future Pipe Industries is a world leader in fiberglass piping for water transportation. Autonational is a leading supplier of GRP pipe production equipment.

Middle East Plastic Pipes 2009 provides a forum to debate the developments in markets, materials and technology in the pipe industry with a strong focus on the needs of the Gulf region. The conference brings together leading pipe producers, specialists and civil engineers from the MENA region, to debate the latest market trends and technology.
