NanoEurope Fair & Conference

NanoEurope – Meeting Place for Innovations

Nanotechnology, the key technology of the 21st century, is changing our everyday lives and stands to play an important role also in the future. The further development of this forward-looking technology is enormously significant to science and business alike. The market potential of nanotechnology is estimated to run into the billions, and around the world large amounts are being spent on the development of these technologies.

In the past years, the NanoEurope has created a meeting platform as part of its fair and conferences in order to promote the exchange of knowledge and its commercialization.

This year, too, the focus will be on the three industries of the future – Medical Devices, Plastics, and Textiles. A separate exhibition day with associated conference will again be dedicated to each of these industries. Exhibitors from various fields of technology and research will present their products and solution for these and other branches.

Improve performance by new nanomaterials and processing technologies

Modern system design needs high-performance in structural properties mostly combined with light weight structures and/or novel functions are necessary for the final product. Plastics or polymer can be reinforced and/or functionalized to fit to such requirements by using additives like nanofibres, –platelets, - particles or nanotubes (nano-composites) or by processes which may change the nanostructure of the polymers.

From the industrial and marketing standpoint it is important that such materials and processes are feasible in the daily routine of manufacturing. However, all these technologies need a fundamental understanding about the materials itself, the interface relationship between the polymer and the additives and the engineering processes of such complex systems.

Therefore academia and industry have to exchange their knowledge such that new and innovative products and systems can be created by new research ideas and long term know how in process technologies. In the field of packaging, automotive application as well as in sports goods this topic is of high importance to lead to environmental friendly long lasting and high-performance products and systems.

The session on “Plastics” will provide such knowledge from industry and academia in order to better bridge the technology transfer in both directions.
