Die Tagung wird von den Instituten Physik und Chemie, dem Ingenieurwissenschaftlichem Zentrum und dem Institut für Polymerwerkstoffe e.V. der Martin-Luther-Universität ausgerichtet.
Die Tagung „Polymerwerkstoffe 2012“ ist die 15. Veranstaltung innerhalb der Tagungsreihe „Polymerwerkstoffe“. National und international zählt die alle zwei Jahre veranstaltete Tagung zu den traditionsreichen Konferenzen auf dem Gebiet der Polymerwissenschaften und Kunststofftechnik in Deutschland. In Plenar-, Haupt- und Kurzvorträgen sowie in Posterbeiträgen sollen wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse in mehreren Sektionen präsentiert und diskutiert werden.

- Theory and Modeling

- Polymers for Energy Engineering
In 2012 a special symposium is planned on the topic:
Polymers in Life Science:
- Aggregation and Odering Phenomena in Proteins
- Interactions Between Amphiphilic Polymers and
- Model Membranes Nanostructured Polymers in Pharmacy
The conference is accompanied by an exhibition of scientific instruments for polymer characterization and testing, processing equipment as well as scientific books.
