Flat films are cut to size by lateral cutting of both film edges, which ensures constant thickness across the entire film width. The continuous film strips which arise are cut into short pieces by the new foil strips cutter RC 180 of Hellweg Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG. The manufactured shreds then can be fed through pipes, even great lengths, to the waste removal or to a connected processing.
The film strip cutter RC 180 is attached directly by a flange to an extraction pipe (picture), through which the edge strips are smoothly extracted by vacuum and fed to the open double knife rotor. There they will be cut between rotor- and fixed knifes into short strips. The gap is adjustable down to only 0.05 mm. As a result, the RC 180 is especially suited for cutting very thin film. It is possible to cut film strips with a width of up to approx. 200 mm. The machine works with a rotor speed of 700 r.p.m. and a driving power of 0.55 kW.
