Krones (www.krones.de) is the only producer of beverage bottling lines to have mastered the entire process chain involved in the case of PET containers, extending from bottle manufacture and filling, together with the associated process steps, to bottle recycling: bottle-to-bottle recycling, turning used PET material back into food-quality PET, is an integral constituent of the Krones portfolio. Beverage bottlers worldwide are being made increasingly responsible for PET recycling.. KRONES has accordingly developed a compact-size concept for a PET recycling line, dimensioned for 500 kg/h or 1,000 kg/h. It is relatively simple to ensure a secure and continuous supply of raw material for this kind of output. In this order of magnitude, the bottle-to-bottle compact-size concept will prove an interesting option not only for dedicated recycling facilities, but also for converters, and for bottlers themselves who want to integrate the preform process into their line structure. Adding in the bales of PET as raw material, the costs for high-quality PET recyclate can be expected to lie substantially below the price for new PET. A genuine cost advantage, then, and achieved with enhanced product dependability. The direct attractions of a compact-size line like this for bottlers as well can be illustrated by a requirement comparison: a 500-kg/h line, given a 50 % proportion of recyclate fed into the preform production process, is able roughly to supply a PET bottling line rated at 40,000 bph. |
