Duytan: Vietnamese recycler installs third Starlinger PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line

Vietnamese plastics recycler Duytan Plastic Recycling Co. Ltd. produces recycled PET for the manufacture of beverage bottles. As Austrian machine builder Starlinger announced that the company is about to install its third Starlinger PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line, which is scheduled to start production by the end of 2023.

Duytan Plastic Recycling is located in the Duc Hoa Ha Plastic Industrial Zone in Long An Province and is considered the first recycling company in Vietnam to operate bottle-to-bottle recycling. The new PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line from machine manufacturer Starlinger recycling technology, a "recoStar PET 330 HC iV+", features the use of underwater pelletizing and is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2023 and to start production by the end of the year.

Currently, Duytan Plastic Recycling operates two Starlinger PET recycling plants with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of food-grade rPET pellets. With the additional production capacity, Duytan Plastic Recycling will increase its processing capacity to 60,000 tons of plastic per year, which is roughly equivalent to four billion post-consumer plastic bottles. The rPET produced can be used in proportions of up to 100 percent for the production of high-quality PET preforms.

To ensure a continuous supply of input material, Duytan Plastic Recycling has established a plastic waste collection network with more than 100 collection points across the country. In 2022, the company further reportedly recycled over 1.3 billion plastic bottles collected domestically.

Duytan Plastic Recycling not only supplies the rPET produced to major FMCG companies in Vietnam but also exported 4,200 tons to Europe and the USA last year.
