Scott Bader: British company modernises main plant in England

The British plastics company Scott Bader is planning to modernise its main plant in Wollaston near Northampton.

According to a press release, a total of GBP 30 million (EUR 35 million) is to be invested at the site in central England over the next five years. GBP 8 million (EUR 9.3 million) has already been earmarked for the first phase this year.

With the modernisation of the plant, Scott Bader is aiming for greater flexibility in production and shorter delivery times for customers in the UK. In addition, the development of sustainable plastic products and new materials for 3D printing is to be accelerated.

Scott Bader also announced the commissioning of a new development laboratory at the company's site in Amiens, France, in the first quarter of this year. Around two million euros have been invested there in recent months.

Scott Bader is also planning to open a second production plant in North America this year. According to the latest press release, the company is investing around USD 16 million in the construction of the new plant in Mocksville in the US state of North Carolina. Scott Bader currently has production capacity in North America at its Drummondville site in the Canadian province of Quebec.

Scott Bader produces a wide range of synthetic resins, composites, adhesives and coatings, which are marketed primarily under the Crystic, Crestabond, Crestaform, Crestafire, Crestafix, Crestomer and Crestapol brands. In addition to the UK, France and North America, the company has production and sales locations in Ireland, Sweden, Germany (Weiden), the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Dubai, India, China, Japan and Australia.
