Sanner: US production starts in Greensboro

Sanner has officially started production in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. The new site specialises in the manufacture of critical injection moulded components for medical technology products and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as desiccant solutions.

With a total area of 5,600 square metres, the plant offers capacity for both CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organisation) and packaging. ‘We are very excited about the opening of our first North American manufacturing facility for injection moulding and pharmaceutical desiccant solutions. The North Carolina location is strategically located and will be supported by our strong design and development teams and design transfer capabilities here in Durham and Pittsboro,’ said Ted Mosler, President of Sanner US.

Growth potential for CDMO offerings
The GMP-compliant facility includes Class 7 and 8 clean rooms, comprehensive laboratory capabilities for testing and measurement technology, and automated environmental monitoring. With additional production space that can be expanded by 1,800 square metres, Sanner can respond quickly to growing customer requirements. ‘We are now in a position to offer our customers in the pharmaceutical and medtech sectors a complete CDMO service, including injection moulding, from a single source in the United States,’ says Ted Mosler.

The new filling area with automated high-speed filling lines for desiccants enables Sanner to offer packaging solutions to customers in the North American pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. The first products manufactured in Greensboro include tubes for effervescent tablets, the high-quality DASG-1 desiccant closure and the ‘AdCap’ desiccant capsule. Further products are to follow.

On course for growth
Sanner recently acquired Durham-based CDMO Gilero, which specialises in the design, development, manufacturing, assembly and packaging of medical products. In 2023, Sanner also opened a second production facility in Kunshan, China, and this year started production at its new manufacturing site and headquarters in Bensheim. ‘The opening of our new site in Greensboro is an important milestone in our long-term growth strategy,’ says Christian Classen, Chief Sales Officer of the Sanner Group.
