RCS Group: Entry into Croatian recycling company Rekis

The German RCS Group has acquired a stake in the Croatian recycling company Rekis.

In a recent press release, RCS announced the acquisition of shares in Rekis without disclosing the size of the stake or the financial volume of the transaction. According to the press release, the agreement was signed on 16 September 2025 and is valid retroactively from 1 January of this year.

Zagreb-based Rekis operates a complex for recycling used PET beverage bottles in Donja Dubrava in north-eastern Croatia. The site is equipped with sorting systems from Sesotec and washing and drying technology from Lindner Washtech, while granulation is carried out using Vacunite technology from Austrian equipment supplier Erema. In total, the complex has the capacity to produce around 15,000 tonnes of rPET granulate per year. Until now, the company was a joint venture between Austrian beverage manufacturer Steinrieser and Austrian-Croatian bottler KIS Pića.

According to the press release, the RCS Group's entry into Rekis not only strengthens its presence abroad, but also its technological expertise in the use of Vacunite recycling systems. With a total of three Vacunite plants now, the group sees itself as a ‘key supplier of high-quality, food-grade rPET’.

The RCS Group is a medium-sized recycling and waste disposal company based in Werne, North Rhine-Westphalia. The company specialises in the disposal of commercial and dental waste and the recycling of PET bottles, and is one of the largest rPET suppliers in Germany. The three subsidiaries RCS Entsorgung, RCS Rohstoffverwertung and RCS Plastics employ a total of more than 230 people.
