With the new BrightStar Electric Press, KraussMaffei has introduced a fully electric press platform for press lamination and edge folding processes. The system was specifically developed for the production of high-quality, lightweight soft-touch interior components in the automotive industry.

According to KraussMaffei, the BrightStar Electric Press is characterized by precise temperature control, fast tool changes, and high flexibility in process control. Customers are intended to be able to adjust process parameters themselves without the need for a service technician. This is meant to shorten set-up times and make production processes more efficient.

The core of the new system is an electric drive combined with a novel heating package, which is designed to enable exact temperature control for heat-based adhesives. A Quick Tool Change function allows for fast and safe tool replacement, while new safety functions in the main tool program prevent damage to the tool.

The BrightStar is available in three variants with 5, 10, and 20 tons of pressing force. Its modular platform can be adapted to customer-specific processes and automation concepts. An integrated, high-precision die set in the upper platen area is intended to ensure process reliability and repeatability. In addition to press lamination and edge folding, the press also supports applications such as Sonic Welding, IR Welding, Light Punching, and Skin Trimming.

KraussMaffei also offers the BrightStar Lite, a more cost-effective variant of the press line. This version is available in the 5-ton configuration, features an expanded tool space of 2,500 mm, and a reduced total weight while maintaining the same precision.
