Polymer Solutions: Expanding Recycling Capacity for Engineering Plastics

Polymer Solutions has expanded its disposal and processing services in the DACH region and now processes injection molding and extrusion waste from other engineering plastics, including polypropylene, in addition to polyamides. The company accepts various forms of delivery – from sprues to large-volume startup lumps – and returns them to the raw material cycle after pure-grade shredding, grinding, or regranulation.

The expansion builds on the existing recycling infrastructure at the Erlenbach am Main site, where around 5,500 tonnes of PA regranulate have been produced annually since the company was founded. By installing an additional mill and a shredder with a capacity of up to 2,000 tonnes per year, the offering has now been supplemented with ground materials from other engineering plastics.

For operational implementation, Polymer Solutions is adopting the established disposal concept of its nearby parent company, Krall Kunststoff-Recycling, which specializes in transparent plastics such as polycarbonate and PMMA. This includes, in particular, proven logistics processes from the collection of waste materials and goods receipt inspection to the delivery of the processed materials to industrial customers.

Managing Director Jörn Bahr points to positive prospects despite difficult market conditions, thanks to certified quality processes, a focus on pure-grade material flows, flexible acceptance conditions, and customer-oriented order processing, some of which operates in a closed loop. Initial orders confirm the expected demand.

Markus Krall, Managing Director of Krall Kunststoff-Recycling GmbH, sees the joint service portfolio of both companies as providing comprehensive service for the processing of post-industry and post-consumer waste from engineering plastics. The offering includes the disposal and processing of technical fibers, injection molded parts, extruded goods, and material-related startup waste, supporting customers in further expanding their environmental goals and contributions to the circular economy.
