Polykemi: Compounder completes generational succession

At the turn of the year, the family-managed Polykemi Group, a compounder headquartered in Ystad, Sweden, completed its long-planned generational change. Corporate leadership passed from the previous owners and managing directors Ola Hugoson and Lars Hugosson to the third generation of the family.

The handover was prepared over a period of approximately seven years. The goal was to implement the succession in a structured manner and without operational disruptions. A central milestone was the public announcement of the generational change on April 25, 2025. Subsequently, the focus was on preparatory coordination, the analysis of existing workflows, and the formalization of the future management structure. These processes were coordinated at the company headquarters in Ystad, Sweden.

In the course of the reorganization, leadership roles were redistributed: Oscar Hugoson took over the position of CEO Global, Herman Hugosson was appointed CEO Sweden, and Gustav Hugoson serves as Deputy CEO. The operational management of the Polykemi Group thus lies with a three-member leadership team. This is complemented by Johan Hugosson, who continues to serve as CEO North America, and Vendela Hugosson, who retains her function in the purchasing department.

With the completion of the handover, Ola Hugoson ends a nearly 30-year tenure as Managing Director of the Polykemi Group, during which he - like his father Hugo Jönsson before him - significantly shaped the company's development. Ola Hugoson remains with the company as a Senior Advisor and supports the new generation with his approximately 40 years of experience. Lars Hugosson also continues to serve as a Senior Advisor, bringing his cross-divisional and operational expertise to the company.

With the generational change complete, Polykemi Group sees itself well-positioned organizationally for the future. Based on existing structures and international management teams, the new generation of leadership takes responsibility for the further development of the company.
