Continental: Groundbreaking for new compounding center in Iowa

Continental recently broke ground at its Mount Pleasant site in the U.S. state of Iowa for a new compounding center operated by its subsidiary ContiTech. With this project, the company is expanding its production capacity in the United States and implementing a previously announced investment plan totaling more than USD 85 million.

The new compounding center is intended to consolidate and expand the production of rubber compounds for the hose and belt business. The plan includes a facility that combines production, warehousing, and office space. According to the company, this is expected to increase efficiency in material manufacturing, maintain consistent product quality, and improve production flexibility. The site will also feature modern mixing lines and an automated warehouse to meet growing demand from a range of industrial sectors.

Continental sees the project as part of its regional production strategy. The aim is to strengthen supply chains in North and South America and build manufacturing capacity closer to its sales markets. The company views the expansion in Mount Pleasant as part of a long-term growth plan for ContiTech’s business in the Americas.

According to the company, the new center will play a key role in the production of rubber-based materials used in hoses, belts, and other technical products. The Mount Pleasant site therefore remains an important part of ContiTech’s global supply network.
