Berlin Packaging: Acquisition of BlueSky

US packaging group Berlin Packaging is continuing to expand its presence in Europe.

In a press release issued last week, the company announced the acquisition of British packaging manufacturer BlueSky. However, no details were disclosed regarding the financial volume or other aspects of the transaction.

BlueSky is headquartered in Grimsby, in northeast England, and produces plastic, glass, and metal packaging and closures, as well as dispensing systems for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and personal care, and beverage industries. In its plastics division, the company primarily processes PET/PETG, polyethylene (HDPE), and polypropylene (PP).

Berlin Packaging has been pursuing an expansion strategy in Europe for some time. Last year, the group strengthened its position through acquisitions including Spanish packaging manufacturer Jurcal Packaging (see plasticker news of November 19, 2025), Italian industry company Cosmei, and Romanian firm Sarom Packaging. In addition, the acquisition of German packaging wholesaler Rixius, agreed at the end of 2024, has since been completed.

Berlin Packaging primarily distributes rigid packaging and closures made from plastics, glass, and metal. The group is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and operates more than 100 locations worldwide. Berlin Packaging is controlled by the New York-based investment firm Oak Hill Capital Partners, which is also the majority owner of U.S. packaging manufacturer Technimark.
