IMCD: Acquisition of Thailand’s Merit Solution – Expanding Its Plastics Additives Offering

IMCD N.V. has signed an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the shares in Merit Solution Co., Ltd. The Thai company distributes additives for the plastics and compounding industry, thereby complementing IMCD’s existing offering in Advanced Materials.

Merit Solution supplies applications in various markets, including plastics, construction products, and adhesives. The company has a team of 24 employees and operates offices as well as a laboratory in Bangkok. In fiscal year 2025, Merit Solution generated revenue of approximately 406 million Thai baht, equivalent to around EUR 10.7 million.

With the acquisition, IMCD aims to strengthen its market position in Thailand and Southeast Asia in the plastics and compounds sector. According to Pichit Pornthanalert, Managing Director of IMCD Thailand, the transaction expands the company’s role as a provider of comprehensive solutions for this market. At the same time, existing supplier and customer relationships are to be deepened and additional local capabilities built up.

Merit Solution’s management sees the combination of the company’s plastics additives expertise with IMCD’s existing portfolio as an opportunity to provide compounders and processors with a broader range of solutions. The expanded product range and stronger local presence are intended to support customers in areas such as improving product properties, processing efficiency, and durability. More sustainable solutions are also cited as part of the future offering.

Completion of the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. IMCD expects the transaction to close in the third quarter of 2026.
