Songwon Industrial has obtained RSPO Mass Balance (MB) certification for its phenolic antioxidant "Songnox 1076." The certificate, issued by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) in January 2026, enables the company to offer the additive as an RSPO-certified product option. Trial quantities are expected to be available from April 2026, with commercial launch planned for the second half of 2026. With "Songnox 1076," Songwon is introducing the first product in its portfolio to meet RSPO requirements. The company views this as the starting point for a potential expansion of its range to include additional RSPO-compliant plastic additives. According to the company, the additive already ranks among the products with a comparatively low carbon footprint within its product category. The RSPO-certified version is intended to support more sustainable sourcing of palm oil-based raw materials while helping customers reduce deforestation risks in their supply chains. It may also assist customers in meeting upcoming regulatory requirements, including planned EU rules aimed at preventing deforestation-linked supply chains. The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is an international multi-stakeholder organization that develops standards for the sustainable production and use of palm oil and promotes their implementation. For Songwon, the certification forms part of its strategy for responsible raw material sourcing and the development of more sustainable products. More information: www.songwon.com, www.rspo.org |
