Alujain: PP fiber JV with Beaulieu Fibres

Saudi Arabian holding company Alujain Corp. is establishing a joint venture with Belgium’s Beaulieu International Group (BIG) to expand polypropylene fiber production at its Yanbu site.

In a press release issued recently, Alujain announced the signing of a corresponding agreement. Alujain and Beaulieu had already signed a memorandum of understanding in February of this year. According to the latest announcement, BIG subsidiary Beaulieu Fibres International (BFI) will acquire a 50% stake in the Alujain-controlled Infrastructure Reinforcement Industrial Company (IRIC) for SAR 89 million (EUR 20 million).

Under the GeoNatPet brand, IRIC operates a plant for the production and processing of PP fibers in Yanbu on the Red Sea, with a current annual capacity of 26,000 tons. As part of the JV with BFI, the site’s production capacity is now to be expanded to as much as 88,000 tons of PP fibers in the coming years. Total investment is expected to amount to around SAR 330 million (EUR 74 million).

Commenting on the planned establishment of the JV in February, Beaulieu CEO Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck said: “This strategic investment reflects Beaulieu’s long-term commitment to expanding and strengthening our core capabilities and developing a global manufacturing platform. Through this JV with Alujain, we can bring our advanced technologies, operational expertise and global market experience in synthetic fibers to Saudi Arabia. With excellent production facilities and highly skilled teams, we aim to provide our customers worldwide with outstanding efficiency, improved reliability and long-term added value.”

Through National Petrochemical Industrial Co. (NatPet), Alujain controls facilities in Yanbu with an annual PP production capacity of 400,000 tons. The holding company is also constructing a new complex at the site together with LyondellBasell for the production of propylene via propane dehydrogenation (PDH), with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons, as well as additional facilities capable of producing 500,000 tons of PP per year.

BFI strengthened its synthetic fibers business at the beginning of this year with the acquisition of Austrian industry company IFG Asota (see plasticker News of January 29, 2026). In addition, the BIG subsidiary produces and processes PP fibers at sites in Belgium and Italy.
