Roemheld: New Systems for Faster Mold Changes

New RWA 1000 elmo mold-changing cart - (Image: Roemheld).
At Fakuma 2026, Roemheld will present two new solutions for mold and tool changes in plastics processing: the electrically driven RWA 1000 elmo mold-changing cart for loads of up to 1,000 kilograms and a new push-pull platform for tools weighing up to 1.6 tonnes. The company’s trade fair presentation will also feature the R-MAG magnetic clamping system and mechanically locked arch clamps.

The RWA 1000 elmo combines an electric travel drive with an electrohydraulic lifting function. The battery-powered cart reaches speeds of up to 4 km/h and lifts tools to table heights ranging from 620 to 1,485 mm. Its stainless-steel roller table accommodates tools measuring up to 1,000 mm x 700 mm, or up to 1,000 mm x 900 mm with lateral overhang. Plug-in and side rails as well as a docking rail secure and position the load.

The new push-pull platform is mounted on electric pedestrian pallet trucks or forklifts and features its own electric drive. A push-pull chain draws the tool onto the platform and subsequently pushes it into the press or injection molding machine. The first model, the RWA 1600 elmo, is designed for loads of up to 1.6 tonnes, with versions for loads of up to 2 and 4 tonnes planned.

With R-MAG, Roemheld will also showcase an electro-permanent magnetic clamping system for different tool sizes and geometries. The system keeps tools securely clamped even in the event of a power failure and features a clamping force indicator, replaceable magnetic poles, an 8-inch touchscreen and a remote maintenance module. Depending on the version, operating temperatures of up to 230°C are possible.

Recently added to the product range are double-acting arch clamps for injection molding machines with an integrated locking pin, available in six versions - (Graphic: Roemheld).
The portfolio also includes double-acting arch clamps with mechanical locking. Depending on the version, they provide clamping forces ranging from 50 to 450 kN. The locking mechanism keeps the clamping bolt in position even in the event of a pressure drop, preventing the tool from being released unintentionally.

At Fakuma 2026, Roemheld will also present systems for storing, transporting, changing and clamping molds and tools.
