At Fakuma 2026, Sigma Engineering will present version 6.2 of its “Sigmasoft Virtual Molding” simulation software. The focus will be on a live application that allows visitors to use their own mold or part geometries for an injection molding simulation.The process is based on geometry data for a new or existing mold or part in STP format. Sigma Engineering staff will use this data to create the calculation model at the company’s booth. “Sigmasoft” automatically meshes the mold geometry and builds the simulation model using the assigned material data. According to the company, preparation typically takes around 30 minutes before the simulation can be started. The aim is to demonstrate the software not with standardized test geometries, but under real-world conditions using actual development and production projects. For example, visitors can analyze mold concepts or current part inquiries. The required geometry data must be submitted in advance via the company’s Fakuma event page. With version 6.2, Sigma Engineering has added further functions and models to “Sigmasoft Virtual Molding.” These are designed to improve the representation of the injection molding process while, in some cases, significantly reducing calculation times. The software simulates the mold, polymer, temperature control, and process conditions in a virtual injection molding process, helping users make mold and process decisions before conducting trials on the actual machine.
