Roth Plastic Technology: Focus on Process Combination and Substitution

Functional integration meets design: Roth Plastic Technology combines intelligent component design, precision mechanics, and high-quality exterior styling — from development through to series production - (Photo: Roth Plastic Technology).
At Fakuma 2026, Roth Plastic Technology will showcase approaches that combine different plastics processing technologies. The company, a branch of Roth Werke GmbH, will exhibit as a co-exhibitor at the booth of Oni-Wärmetrafo GmbH. Its presentation will focus on material substitution, functional integration and process substitution as key elements of an integrated, cross-process approach to product and process development.

Rather than designing plastic components around a single manufacturing technology, Roth Plastic Technology takes a broader approach. Material, component geometry, functional requirements, production volumes and manufacturing processes are evaluated together from the concept and development stage onwards. The objective is to identify the most suitable material combinations and process chains for each application and, where beneficial, to combine different plastics processing technologies.

Material substitution involves assessing existing materials in terms of technical performance, availability, cost and sustainability. Alternative materials can be considered as long as the required component properties are maintained. Functional integration, meanwhile, aims to incorporate several functions into a single component. This can reduce the number of individual parts, assembly operations and interfaces, provided that component design, material selection and manufacturing technology are closely coordinated.

Process substitution focuses on the manufacturing route itself. Existing production processes may be replaced by alternative technologies or combined process chains where this offers technical or economic advantages. For complex components in particular, such an approach can create greater flexibility in terms of geometry, functionality and material selection.

Roth Plastic Technology integrates these concepts into a continuous development and manufacturing process. Its capabilities range from engineering and component design to material and process selection and series production. This cross-process approach is especially relevant for applications in which material changes, functional integration or alternative manufacturing methods need to be considered at an early stage of product development.

The company will once again exhibit together with Oni-Wärmetrafo GmbH at Fakuma 2026. The collaboration relates to their joint trade fair presence; the information currently available does not specify any further joint technical projects.
