Sun Chemical: PPS compounds and masterbatches for electrification and recycling

At Fakuma 2026, Sun Chemical is presenting new PPS compounds alongside functional masterbatch solutions designed with sustainability in mind. The focus is on applications in electrification, high-voltage technology, thermal management, water handling, plastics sorting and recycling.

PPS materials for electrical and thermal applications
The portfolio includes the black PPS compound “DIC.PPS Z-240 Black”, intended for components requiring high resistance to temperature cycling and chemicals. Sun Chemical cites busbars, connectors, pumps and electric motor components among its applications.

New to the range is “DIC.PPS Z-650-MV Black”. The material achieves an average Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) of 200 V and, according to the company, combines high resistance to temperature cycling with electrical properties suited to metal-plastic hybrid components. Also new is “DIC.PPS TX-2010-HV Black”. This high-CTI material is classified in PLC group 0 and is intended to enable shorter creepage distances and thus more compact electrical designs in high-voltage applications.

For extrusion, the company is showcasing “DIC.PPS Z-200-XP Black”. This PPS grade is designed for thermoforming and for pipes used to transport liquids and in heating and cooling systems. Depending on the grade, other materials have approvals for drinking-water or food contact. Intended applications include water meters, mixing cartridges and domestic water supply systems. For heat pumps and thermal management modules, the key requirements are resistance to hydrolysis, chemicals and pressure, as well as dimensional stability.

Carbon-black-free masterbatch for near-infrared sorting
In its masterbatch range, Sun Chemical is introducing a new soot- and carbon-black-free masterbatch intended to make plastics easier to detect during automated sorting using near-infrared technology. It is aimed particularly at dark plastic products, which can be difficult for sorting systems to identify when colored with carbon black.

Sun Chemical is also presenting “TropoSol C100”, a temperature-responsive film technology for greenhouses. Its trade fair lineup also includes masterbatches for wood-plastic composites (WPC), effect pigments, and the “Sicolen” and “Sicoversal” granule masterbatches. Further solutions aim to reduce production waste and increase material recovery.
