RSH Polymere Launches New PIR/PCR Hybrid Recyclates

RSH Polymere GmbH is expanding its range of regranulates and recycling compounds with new hybrid grades combining post-industrial recyclates (PIR) and post-consumer recyclates (PCR). The materials are designed for applications that must meet both defined recycled-content targets and specific technical performance requirements. The company will present the new grades at Fakuma 2026.

Combining PIR and PCR to Address Regulatory Requirements
The new hybrid materials are formulated with PCR content levels intended to take account of current and upcoming minimum recycled-content requirements. RSH Polymere cites, among other examples, provisions under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) as well as regulatory requirements affecting the automotive sector. PIR feedstocks are incorporated alongside PCR.

By combining the two recyclate streams, RSH Polymere aims to balance the required share of post-consumer material with the comparatively consistent material properties offered by suitable PIR feedstocks. The hybrid grades are intended in particular for applications where mandatory PCR content must be achieved without compromising defined technical properties.

Application-Specific Recyclate Development
According to the company, RSH Polymere primarily serves the packaging, consumer goods, construction and automotive industries. Its regranulates and “rCompounds” are tailored to specific processing conditions and component requirements.

A key objective is to replace virgin polymers with recycled materials containing high shares of PIR and PCR, including in more technically demanding applications.

Material development is carried out in close cooperation with customers. Formulations and recycled-content levels are adjusted to the requirements of the individual application as well as to relevant regulatory specifications.

RSH Polymere produces regranulates and recycling compounds at its own facilities in Hamburg and Garstedt, Lower Saxony.

Sales Volume of Around 50,000 Tonnes Targeted for 2026
For 2026, RSH Polymere is targeting sales of around 50,000 tonnes of plastic granulates. The company employs approximately 170 people across its two sites.

35 Years of RSH Polymere
RSH Polymere celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2026. Over the past three and a half decades, the company has focused on processing and further developing recycled plastics.

Today, according to the company, a major area of focus is the development of regranulates and recycling compounds for higher-value applications in which recycled materials can serve as a technical substitute for virgin polymers.
