FKuR Kunststoff: Focus on Bio-Based Compounds and Recyclates

At Fakuma 2026, FKuR Kunststoff GmbH will present bio-based plastic compounds, plastic recyclates and combinations of both material groups. The focus will be on materials suitable for various processing methods, as well as the requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) regarding recycled content and packaging design for recyclability.

Polyethylene and Polypropylene Recyclates
The company's recyclate portfolio includes polyethylene grades based on LDPE and HDPE, as well as polypropylene (PP). The materials are produced from post-consumer recycled (PCR) or post-industrial recycled (PIR) waste and are available in natural, transparent and colored grades. Depending on the material type, they are intended for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion applications. The products distributed by FKuR include recyclates from the Bulgarian company Kaskada Ltd. According to FKuR, these materials are "RecyClass" certified.

Compounds Combining Recyclates and Renewable Raw Materials
Another key focus is on compounds that combine recyclates with bio-based raw material content. According to FKuR, these materials are designed for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion. The natural to off-white grades can be colored and are intended for recyclable applications. This approach combines the use of secondary raw materials with the partial replacement of fossil-based raw materials by renewable feedstocks.

Bioplastics and the EU Packaging Regulation
FKuR will also showcase bio-based, compostable and biodegradable plastic grades for various processing methods. Material selection depends on the requirements of the specific application and the intended end-of-life treatment. In the context of the PPWR, the company emphasizes the selection of suitable recyclates and the design of packaging for recyclability. Among other provisions, the regulation sets requirements for recycled content in plastic packaging.
