At Fakuma 2026, Wittmann is presenting the “WS90” servo sprue picker for sprue removal and small-parts handling. The device is designed for payloads of up to 2 kg and is primarily used on injection molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 35 to 180 metric tons. According to the manufacturer, it reduces compressed air consumption compared with pneumatic sprue pickers. No specific consumption or savings figures are provided. The servo drives allow acceleration and deceleration settings to be adjusted to the application. This is intended to shorten the robot arm’s dwell time in the mold area and support low-vibration operation. According to Wittmann, the resulting removal and placement precision also enables simple pick-and-place tasks involving small parts. The sprue picker features the “R9” control system, which enables synchronized axis movements. All main servo axes can execute three-dimensional movements simultaneously, supporting short handling times. Axis positions can be adjusted to suit different tasks. Its limited operating envelope allows for a compact safety enclosure. According to the manufacturer, the “WS90” can replace existing removal systems with minimal effort. In integrated production cells equipped with Wittmann injection molding machines, it can be operated directly via the machine’s “B8X” operator panel.
