French automotive supplier OPmobility has opened a plant in Kharkhoda, in the Indian state of Haryana, together with Maruti Suzuki India Limited and its parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation. It is the group's sixth production facility in India and the joint venture's second plant in northern India. The new facility will manufacture complete fuel storage systems. Annual production capacity is expected to increase to one million fuel tanks by 2031. Plastic fuel tanks are one of OPmobility's core businesses. They are typically manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) using blow moulding technology. However, the company has not disclosed which materials and manufacturing processes are used specifically at the Kharkhoda plant. With the new facility, OPmobility is expanding its production capacity for Maruti Suzuki, India's largest vehicle manufacturer. The group has been operating in India since 2007 and now has six plants and four research and development centres in the country. According to the company, more than one-third of vehicles in India are equipped with its components. OPmobility claims to rank first in the Indian market for fuel tanks and third for bumpers. In addition to fuel systems, the group manufactures plastic body components, including bumpers made from polypropylene and composite materials. OPmobility aims to double its revenue in India by 2030. Worldwide, the group generated economic revenue of EUR 11.5 billion in 2025 and operated 152 plants and 40 research and development centres, employing 38,100 people. No information has been provided on the investment amount or the number of employees at the Kharkhoda facility. More information: |
