LANXESS: Increased prices for synthetic rubber grades

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS AG (www.lanxess.com) is to increase its prices worldwide for a number of its synthetic rubber grades effective April 1, 2008. According to an announcement by the Technical Rubber Products business unit, the price increase per metric ton will comprise up to EUR 100 / USD 150 for Buna EP (EPDM), up to EUR 250 / USD 375 for Baypren (CR), up to EUR 200 / USD 300 for Levapren/Levamelt (EVM) and up to EUR 200 / USD 300 for Perbunan/Krynac (NBR). The adjustment was inevitable because the costs for raw materials and energy have risen significantly.

These rubber grades are mainly used to produce functional components for the automotive, gas/oil exploration and production and mechanical, construction and cable engineering industries.
