After the July 2003 acquisition of Beauvais Diffusion, Plastic Omnium Environment (www.plasticomnium.com) announced shortly it was acquiring Temaco, a subsidiary of Sita France (Groupe Suez). A wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Plastic Omnium, Plastic Omnium Environment is the leading provider of onsite waste handling services for local communities, including the manufacture, sale, management and maintenance of waste containers. In 2003, it generated sales of €223 million. Based in Aix-en-Provence, Temaco is also active in onsite waste handling. In 2003, it reported €25 million in sales and €2.6 million in operating income, with 70 employees in its sales and service agencies throughout France. Through its Plastic Omnium Urban Systems, Beauvais Diffusion and Temaco subsidiaries, Plastic Omnium Environment will now be able to offer its customers—local communities and businesses—an expanded range of products and services. The three companies’ positioning and strategic fit will provide more effective responses to customer expectations in the areas of optimized waste management and improved environmental performance. Following a number of strategic transactions in 2003, the announced creation of HBPO with German OEMs Hella and Behr last January 13, and the sale of Plastic Omnium Medical on April 8, this new acquisition reaffirms Compagnie Plastic Omnium’s commitment to focusing on its core businesses, with the goal of strengthening their global leadership positions. |
