![]() In his welcoming speech, Michael Hehl, Managing Partner and Spokesperson for the Arburg Management, outlined the purpose of Arburg’s energy efficiency award. "With this award, we annually show our appreciation for companies who, like us, take an innovative, holistic and international approach to the subject of energy efficiency and who stand out on account of their corporate philosophy and activities." In his eulogy, Helmut Heinson, Managing Director Sales, explained Arburg’s reasons for choosing Tyco Electronics as the recipient of the 2009 award: "The Arburg energy efficiency award is presented to the group for its activities under the banner of ‘Reducing Environmental Impact on a Global Level’. Our award is a tribute to the targeted environmental strategy officially pursued by Tyco Electronics throughout the entire world." Key aspects mentioned included energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water and waste waster consumption and material recycling. For example, the decision was made to carry out the appropriate measurements and to define global values and targets for the 2009 financial year. The measures include energy consumption audits and the implementation of numerous projects to reduce energy consumption at the company’s sites throughout the world. Energy-efficient electric machines for the production of moulded parts contribute to this reduction.
