The CEPM 2025 is focusing on the pressing challenges facing the European chemicals and plastics industry. Key topics include regulatory pressure, cost developments, recycling strategies and the role of innovation in maintaining global competitiveness.
Day 1 opens with a panel discussion on whether Europe’s chemical industry can regain its competitiveness. The session includes a market outlook from Martin Bäcker (Plastics Information Europe) and a debate titled “The Mathematics of Plastics: How to Make Money in Today’s Economy and Overcome Market Challenges” with contributions from industry leaders. The day also features the presentation of an industry declaration to the European Commission and an international workshop on the circular economy.
Day 2 focuses on practical applications, with three thematic blocks covering:
- the role of technical plastics in a changing market,
- success factors in packaging with emphasis on recyclates, certifications and bioplastics,
- best practices in polyolefin waste management, with insights from COREPLA, MOHU and BUSS ChemTech.
Parallel B2B sessions and an evening networking event on the Danube complement the program.
Day 3 bridges industry and science. Start-ups, research institutes and innovation centers will present market-ready solutions for plastics and recycling, highlighting ways to integrate scientific developments into industrial practice.
