Equipolymers: Price Increase for Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)
|
Supply for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins remains challenging due to strong demand from resin converters and increased raw material prices. Additionally, present PET prices do not allow for acceptable margins for Equipolymers (www.equipolymers.com). Based on this situation, Equipolymers GmbH announces a price increase of 50 Euros per metric ton in Europe for all LIGHTERTM PET Resins. This price increase is effective December 1, 2006. Anzeige Equipolymers is a 50/50 global joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) of Kuwait, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and The Dow Chemical Company. Equipolymers manufactures and markets polyethylene terephthalate resins (PET), whilst producing purified terephthalic acid (PTA). PET is a high quality plastic for use in the packaging industry and in particular for the production of beverage, food and other liquid containers. PTA is a key raw material for the production of PET. 
Equipolymers is headquartered in Horgen, Switzerland. Production facilities include PET and PTA plants in Ottana, Italy, and two PET plants in Schkopau, Germany for a total capacity of approximately 450,000 metric tons. |
