At the autumn meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal, on November 14, 2024, members of European Masterbatchers and Compounders (EuMBC) elected Dirk Marschke as the new President. With a career spanning over three decades in the chemical industry, Dirk Marschke brings a wealth of experience and expertise to lead EuMBC in its mission to represent the interests of European masterbatch and compound producers. Dirk began his career in 1992 as a chemical technician, spending several years in production and quality control laboratories for iron oxide pigments at BASF's Cologne-Mühlheim site. From 2004 to 2008, he pursued further studies to become a State Certified Engineer in Chemistry. In 2006, Dirk transitioned to roles in product master data, quality management, and product safety within the masterbatch business at BASF. In early 2012, Dirk joined Crenox/Sachtleben/Huntsman Pigments as a Product Safety Manager, overseeing REACh and CLP compliance, as well as application-relevant regulatory topics related to titanium dioxide, zinc sulfide, and barium sulfate. Since April 2017, he returned to the masterbatch business at BASF's Cologne site as Head of Quality & Regulatory Management, continuing in the same position after the acquisition by Sun Chemical. Dirk has been actively involved in national and international industry associations for around 15 years. “During my presidency of EuMBC, I want to promote cooperation between the trade associations in the masterbatch sector in order to better coordinate and strengthen common positions. My goal is to highlight the positive benefits of our products and ensure fair and transparent communication with all interested parties. EuMBC fosters a supportive business environment, proactively tracks and anticipates regulatory changes, and provides direct access to EU institutions as well as practical tools and guidance”, stated Dirk Marschke. About EuMBC Established in 2001, EuMBC is a Sector Group of the European Plastics Converters (EuPC) and an international association of companies with manufacturing operations in the EU, EEA, and Turkey. EuMBC represents the interests of European masterbatch and compound producers vis-à-vis European institutions and other professional organizations. The association is particularly active in areas related to the plastics industry, including REACH, food contact regulations, and new technologies. More information: www.compounders.eu |
