Evonik is continuing the expansion of its global production capacities for hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes (HTPB). Following investments already implemented in recent years, the company is expanding capacities both at its Marl site in Germany and, looking ahead, in Asia. A significant capacity expansion for "Polyvest HT" is currently being realized at the Marl site. The commissioning of the additional production capacities is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. The goal is to strengthen existing production and further increase supply security for customers. In parallel, Evonik has commenced conceptual engineering in Germany for a new production plant in Asia. With the planned new construction, the company is responding to the increasing demand for HTPB in Asian markets. The location for the new plant will be selected based on strategic criteria, particularly with a view to synergies with existing Evonik sites in the region. Evonik had already invested in the expansion of its polybutadiene business over the past two years, including the expansion of HTPB production in Marl in 2024 and the commissioning of a plant for "Polyvest HT" ST-E 60 polybutadiene in Shanghai in 2025. With these current and planned measures, Evonik aims to further develop its global production structure and meet the growing international demand for hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes in the long term.
