Toyota is investing in the construction of another circular economy facility in Wałbrzych, Poland. The plant will cover an area of 25,000 square meters and is set to process around 20,000 end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) per year in the future. With this investment, the company aims to expand its closed-loop material activities in Europe and accelerate the transition toward a circular and CO₂-neutral business model.

The facility is designed to systematically dismantle vehicles at the end of their lifecycle and recover both reusable components and secondary raw materials. Batteries, wheels, and other parts will be assessed for their suitability for refurbishment, reuse, or recycling. In addition, materials such as copper, steel, aluminum, and plastics will be separated and fed back into the production of new vehicles. The objective is to ensure resource-efficient use of materials across the entire value chain.

The new plant complements existing production activities at the Wałbrzych site, where key components for hybrid and conventional powertrains are already manufactured.

This will be Toyota’s second circular economy plant in Europe. The first facility opened in 2025 in Burnaston, UK, and, according to the company, serves as a reference model for establishing circular business processes.

Toyota cites the market potential for sourcing end-of-life vehicles, established recycling structures, and existing production infrastructure in Poland as key reasons for selecting the location. Similar investments are planned in other European markets in the coming years.

According to the company, the stronger integration of circular processes is expected to reduce the use of CO₂-intensive primary raw materials and increase supply chain resilience. A vehicle design approach focused on reuse, remanufacturing, recycling, and material efficiency is intended to lower emissions across the entire value chain.
