As part of the collaboration, Rondo Plast takes over production scrap and by-products from the manufacture of closures, containers, and lids at Modulpac. The materials consist primarily of PP and PE—two standard polymers that account for a significant share of Rondo Plast’s production. According to Patrik Lindqvist, Category Manager Recycled Materials at Rondo Plast, demand for recycled plastics has steadily increased over the past ten years. Recycled PP is particularly in demand, as well as engineering plastics such as polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and polyamides (PA6 and PA66). The cooperation between the two companies is characterized by close technical coordination. The objective is to align production processes and capture and process generated residues in such a way that they can be returned to the recycling process as single-grade materials. Rondo Plast supports Modulpac in optimizing internal scrap management processes so that remaining materials are not sent to energy recovery but reused as secondary raw materials. Through structured collection and sorting of plastic residues by polymer type, Rondo Plast is able to process the materials into high-quality recyclates. A key prerequisite is the provision of production waste that is as contamination-free and single-grade as possible. More information: |
