TactoTek, developer of In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE) technology, has entered into a licensing partnership with LurexX optical GmbH, based in Ingolstadt. The company specializes in optical simulation as well as the development and design of complex optical components. The aim of the collaboration is to integrate IMSE technology into LurexX’s engineering portfolio, thereby supporting the development of optical systems for industrial and automotive applications. Through this partnership, TactoTek is expanding its global IMSE ecosystem with expertise in optical system development, light simulation, validation, and metrology. LurexX supports customers throughout the entire development chain—from early concept phases and simulation of optical properties to series production. By enabling early digital calculation and optimization of light distribution, the efficiency and homogeneity of lighting systems based on IMSE technology are expected to improve. The IMSE technology developed by TactoTek enables the integration of lighting functions, sensors, touch controls, electronic components, and conductive traces directly into three-dimensional plastic structures. As a result, conventional multi-part assemblies can be replaced by structural electronics. The outcome is thin-walled, lightweight functional surfaces that combine design, electronics, and lighting in a single integrated component structure while simultaneously reducing assembly effort and system complexity. In the field of lighting, the technology opens up new possibilities for integrated lighting functions such as dynamic surface illumination or light lines within thin component structures. LurexX’s optical simulation expertise is intended to help precisely design and technically validate these functions already in the early stages of development. The collaboration is particularly aimed at applications with high requirements for design integration, light quality, and installation space optimization, such as in the automotive industry or industrial control interfaces. By combining structural electronics with optical system development, the partners aim to shorten development processes and support the implementation of lighting solutions suitable for series production.
