Herbold Meckesheim: Second PET washing plant for Doğa PET expands recycling capacity

Herbold Meckesheim is supplying a second PET bottle washing plant to the Turkish recycling company Doğa PET. The order follows the operation of a first plant that has been in service at the Kırklareli site in Turkey since the first quarter of 2024. With the additional plant, Doğa PET aims to significantly expand its processing capacity and achieve a daily production of around 200 t of rPET flakes. The new plant adopts the basic process layout as well as the key throughput parameters of the existing line in order to ensure consistent scaling of production capacity.

The technical core of the plant includes, among other things, granulators with forced feeding, a hot washing stage in a batch process, and a hydrocyclone separation stage for density separation. Although the basic plant configuration corresponds to the concept of the first line, individual process modules have been adapted based on previous operating experience and taking into account different properties of the input material.

One technical expansion particularly concerns pre-sorting. Its capacity will be increased to 8.0 t/h. For this purpose, Herbold Meckesheim will supply a bale opener as well as a washing drum that combines wet and dry processes in one machine. The aim of these adjustments is to ensure stable throughput performance while simultaneously optimizing process control.

Delivery of the first plant components is scheduled for early March 2026. Installation and commissioning at the Doğa PET site in Kırklareli will follow. In addition to supplying the plant technology, Herbold Meckesheim will also coordinate logistics, on-site assembly, commissioning, and the training of operating personnel.
