The Kistler Group generated revenue of 424 million Swiss francs in the 2025 financial year. Adjusted for currency effects, the decline amounted to 1 percent, or 5 percent in Swiss francs. Despite a challenging market environment, revenue levels therefore remained largely stable. Order intake developed more weakly, falling 2 percent on a currency-adjusted basis and 6 percent in Swiss francs compared with the previous year. According to the company, the development was mainly impacted by the strong Swiss franc, the continued weakness of the German automotive industry, and geopolitical and economic uncertainties. These also include risks related to US tariff policy. For 2026, Kistler is focusing on targeted investments in growth markets and the further expansion of its own production base. At its headquarters in Winterthur, the company is advancing preparations for a new highly automated sensor factory. At the same time, a new regional Asia headquarters is to be established in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen the company’s market position in the region. Strategically, Kistler continues to focus on piezoelectric measurement technology. Four industrial application areas are central: monitoring and control of manufacturing processes, solutions for plastics processing with a focus on medical technology, condition monitoring of critical infrastructure such as bridges, and monitoring of large engines in shipbuilding and stationary energy supply. In the field of infrastructure monitoring, Kistler expanded its portfolio in 2025 with a cloud-based software platform for structural health monitoring. In combination with “weigh-in-motion” systems, the company aims to offer integrated solutions from sensors to data analysis. The goal is more precise assessment of structural conditions and traffic loads. Regionally, Kistler expects a differentiated market environment in 2026. In Asia, particularly China, the company anticipates continued growth. In the United States, the management team has been strengthened to respond more flexibly to geopolitical uncertainties. In Germany, the focus is on developing new applications in order to partly offset declines in the automotive business. Kistler also expects additional momentum on the product side. According to the company, several new developments for different industries are currently in progress. Spending on research and development is expected to amount to around 9 percent of revenue in 2026. With regard to the Winterthur site, Kistler is also planning the construction of a “smart factory” in the coming years. The project is currently in a planning and clarification phase. It is part of the long-term strategy to further develop the production and working environment technologically and to expand the site. More information: www.kistler.com |
