Schmidt Plastics: Acquisition by the Aspen Pumps Group – Strategic Realignment and Expansion of the European Production Base

Effective November 1, 2025, the Aspen Pumps Group acquired the German company Schmidt. As part of the acquisition, the company will in future operate under the name Schmidt Plastics GmbH. This step comes against the backdrop of a challenging market environment that placed many companies in the sector under pressure over the past year and made a reassessment of strategic direction necessary.

Through its integration into the Aspen Pumps Group, Schmidt Plastics becomes part of an internationally active group of companies. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, the group specializes in spare parts and accessories for air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and employs more than 800 people at around 25 locations worldwide.

The group already operates plastic injection molding capacities in the United Kingdom through its subsidiary Masona Plastics. With the site in Germany, an additional production base is now being added on the European mainland, which will at the same time serve as the center of expertise for plastics manufacturing in Europe. This is intended to enable customers in Germany and other European markets to be served more locally and more efficiently in the future.

Under the new ownership structure, investments are planned to expand technical and operational capacities. These include, among other things, additions to the machinery fleet as well as the production and organizational structures. Aspen is committed to continuing Schmidt’s existing business, including its specialized electrical products, maintaining and enhancing existing customer relationships, and at the same time investing in new machinery and equipment to expand production for air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

The workforce and the Emsbüren site are also expected to remain a long-term part of the company structure.

According to the company, business operations are continuing unchanged. Production and service will be maintained while integration into the Aspen Pumps Group is implemented.
