The GreenDot Group has integrated the French RG Group, with two sites in Tence and Saint-Pal-de-Mons, into its company. With this move, GreenDot is expanding its activities into the French market while at the same time increasing its European recycling capacity in the LDPE segment. The group now comprises a total of five mechanical plastics recycling plants in France, Germany, and Italy. The two French sites complement the existing facilities in Hörstel and Eisfeld in Germany and in Piacenza in Italy. According to the company, the integration particularly strengthens the processing of commercial and industrial PE films. GreenDot is thus further expanding its position in the European market for recycled plastics. GreenDot views its entry into the French market as a strategically important step. The company points to the country’s importance for the expansion of recycling capacities as well as to changes in the French market environment, where some local LDPE recyclers are withdrawing. The integration of the RG Group is intended to help expand the supply of LDPE recyclates from European sources. According to the company, the RG Group currently processes more than 20,000 tonnes of LDPE film per year. At the two sites, there is reportedly potential to increase capacity to more than 35,000 tonnes annually. With the acquisition, GreenDot is expanding its processing base for LDPE waste from households as well as from commercial and industrial sources. In connection with the French market, the company highlights the regulatory and economic framework conditions. In particular, it cites the French eco-modulation system, which favors the use of recycled plastics produced in Europe. The stronger presence in France, including in the industrial region near Lyon, is intended to support regional material loops and the supply of local industries with recyclates. GreenDot also places the transaction in the context of future requirements for the use of recyclates, including the provisions of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Through the integration, the company aims to expand its ability to supply brand manufacturers and processors that depend on increasing recycled content in packaging. The acquisition of the RG Group follows the integration of Forplast, which had already taken place in the previous year. Overall, GreenDot is continuing its expansion course in European plastics recycling and further broadening its industrial base in the LDPE segment. More information: green-dot.com |
