According to its own figures, Upper Austrian company Econ GmbH increased its total revenue within two years from around EUR 28.3 million in 2023 to more than EUR 34 million in 2025. At the same time, the export share rose to 91 percent. Based in Weißkirchen an der Traun, the company specializes in pelletizing systems for plastics processing and is continuing its growth trajectory primarily through international markets. The main focus areas of its foreign business are currently Europe, North America, as well as India and China. In addition, the Middle East and Latin America are becoming increasingly important for the company. Econ attributes this development to a long-term internationalization strategy and the expansion of sales and service locations in key sales regions. The company has maintained its own sales structures in the United States, China, and India for more than ten years. These locations serve for direct customer contact, on-site technical support, and the handling of international plant engineering projects. In the Indian market, the subsidiary Econ India has repeatedly been recognized as the “Best Brand in the Plastic and Polymer Industry.” Despite the expansion of its international presence, development, engineering, and production remain concentrated at the Austrian headquarters. Around 80 employees are currently based there, with more than 110 employees worldwide. Econ is thus pursuing a model that combines international market activities with centralized technical and production structures in Austria. In terms of content, the company focuses on machinery solutions for energy- and resource-efficient plastics processing. Its pelletizing systems are designed for use in compounding, masterbatch, and recycling processes and are intended to enable stable processing, particularly for demanding materials such as highly filled or temperature-sensitive polymers. The focus also includes the use of recyclates and the recovery of production waste. According to the company, optimized system designs, durable components, and a high level of process stability help reduce energy consumption, material losses, and downtime. As an example, Econ cites its fully automatic underwater pelletizing system “Econia,” which operates with automated process control and integrated quality monitoring. Econ GmbH sees its future development in a combination of international expansion, technical specialization, and solutions for more efficient plastics processing. More information: www.econ.eu |
