Barnes Molding Solutions: Injection Molding Expertise Consolidated Under the New Name “Spectrix”

The former company Barnes Molding Solutions will now operate under the name “Spectrix.” The rebranding was unveiled at Chinaplas 2026. With this new market presence, several previously independently managed capabilities and brands in the injection molding sector are being organizationally brought together under one roof. These include “Männer,” “Foboha,” “Synventive,” “Priamus,” “Thermoplay,” and “Gammaflux.”

According to the company, nothing will initially change for customers in day-to-day business. Existing contacts, contracts, and processes will remain unchanged. Rather, the renaming is intended as a strategic and structural realignment through which Spectrix aims to more closely integrate its capabilities along the industrial process chain.

In terms of content, the consolidated portfolio covers key areas of injection molding technology. These include component design, material-related topics, hot runner and tooling technology, sensor systems and process control, as well as injection molding processing. In this way, the company positions itself as an integrated supplier that brings together multiple technology-related interfaces within an injection molding project in a single organization.

At the same time, the international manufacturing base is being expanded. A new site in Pune, India, has already been opened. Another production site in the Detroit area in the United States is expected to follow shortly. This expansion underscores the company’s stronger focus on international markets and a broader industrial presence in key manufacturing regions.

The manufacturing offering is also being expanded. In the future, Spectrix intends not only to support customers with development, tooling, and process technology, but also to provide its own production capacities for complex applications. In this context, “Cube Mold” solutions are mentioned among the capabilities to be made available within the company’s own industrial environment. This means the company is moving beyond purely supplying technology and systems and is incorporating additional manufacturing steps into its own offering.

The reasons behind the realignment lie in the changed corporate structure. The former Molding Solutions business was part of Barnes Group and, following the organizational separation of aerospace and industrial activities carried out by Apollo, was restructured within the industrial segment. Spectrix has now emerged from this division. Independent management and organizational structures are intended to enable more flexible control and a stronger focus on specific customer and application requirements.

According to the company, the new name is intended to reflect the breadth of its technological offering in the plastics sector. In substance, the repositioning is aimed above all at stronger integration of previously dispersed capabilities, as well as the further expansion of its global manufacturing and market presence.
