The Engel Group is launching the global rollout of the all-electric Wintec “e-win” injection molding machines outside Asia. At the same time, the company has revised and streamlined its portfolio of two-platen injection molding machines. It continues to include the Engel “duo” for highly integrated and individually configured production solutions, as well as the Wintec “t-win” for standardized applications with a focus on cost efficiency and availability. The Wintec “e-win” covers clamping forces from 1,000 to 5,000 kN. The all-electric drive technology is designed to enable precise control of the main movements, high repeatability, and stable shot weights. Since energy is only required during actual movements and no hydraulic oil is used, energy consumption, maintenance effort, and downtime can be reduced. Process control is supported by digital assistance systems such as “iQ clamp control,” “iQ hold control,” and “iQ weight control plus.” These optimize, among other things, clamping force, holding pressure time, and the compensation of viscosity fluctuations. This is intended to increase process stability and help reduce scrap, particularly when processing recycled materials. The Engel “duo” has also been technically enhanced. The series remains available in the clamping force range from 4,500 to 55,000 kN; larger machines up to 110,000 kN have already been realized. In the updated portfolio, available clamping forces increase by up to 28 percent with the same platen sizes. New wide-platen versions for the “duo 1000” and “duo 2100” expand the usable mold space and allow larger molds within the same machine class. Since its market launch in 1994, more than 15,000 machines of this series have been installed worldwide. The Wintec “t-win” will in future be available globally with clamping forces from 4,500 to 40,000 kN. New injection units increase injection performance by up to 38 percent. This allows shorter filling times and enables applications with larger-volume or more demanding components. The series is designed as a robust two-platen machine for near-standard processes; around 2,000 machines are installed worldwide. With the rollout of the “e-win” and the revision of the two-platen series, the Engel Group is aligning its machine portfolio more strongly with different production strategies. The Engel and Wintec brands are intended to offer processors a clearer choice between individually configured system solutions and standardized production concepts.
