9th PLA World Congress: Programme and Speakers Announced

2–3 June 2026, Munich, Germany + online

The 9th PLA World Congress will take place on 2 and 3 June 2026 at the Holiday Inn City Centre in Munich. The event is organised by the trade publication “Renewable Carbon Plastics”, formerly “bioplastics Magazine”. The specialist conference will be held as a hybrid event, with both in-person and online participation. The full agenda and speaker programme are now available online.

The focus will be on polylactic acid (PLA), one of the most market-relevant bioplastics. PLA is largely based on renewable raw materials and is used in applications including packaging, coffee capsules, serviceware, fibres, automotive applications and consumer electronics. Blends with other bioplastics, additional partner polymers, and natural or biodegradable glass fibres are further expanding its range of applications.

Experts from industry, research and certification will discuss current developments, application opportunities, limitations and prospects for PLA. The two-day conference will be accompanied by a table-top exhibition. For on-site participants, a “Bavarian Night” in a traditional Munich tavern is also planned for 2 June 2026.

Online participants will gain access via the Pheedloop platform, which supports features such as questions, networking, programme changes and organisational updates. Recordings of the presentations and Q&A sessions are expected to be available to registered participants for at least three months after the event.

Individual presentation slots still available
According to the organiser, a limited number of presentation slots are still available. The announced participating companies and institutions include Sulzer Chemtech, Centexbel, TotalEnergies Corbion, Michigan State University, TÜV Austria, Thyssenkrupp Uhde Inventa-Fischer, Aimplas, Fraunhofer IVV, NatureWorks, Emirates Biotech and DIN Certco.
