BASF: Lindex uses “loopamid” for textile-to-textile recycled polyamide in underwear

Lindex and BASF are expanding their collaboration in circular textile solutions and introducing “loopamid” in the underwear segment for the first time. The recycled polyamide 6 developed by BASF is intended to reduce the use of fossil raw materials and advance textile-to-textile recycling in the fashion industry.

The material is made entirely from industrial textile waste and used clothing. According to BASF, the technology also enables the recycling of complex polyamide materials and blended textiles, which have so far been recyclable only to a limited extent. The material properties are said to remain comparable to conventionally produced polyamide 6. Multiple recycling cycles are also said to be possible.

For Swedish fashion retailer Lindex, the use of “loopamid” is part of its strategy to increase the share of recycled and sustainably sourced materials. Following progress with textile-to-textile recycled cellulose fibers, the focus is now shifting to polyamide in the lingerie segment, an important material category for the company.

Lindex points to the importance of new technologies and close cooperation along the value chain in order to implement circular models in the textile sector economically. BASF sees the partnership as a further step toward establishing closed material loops for polyamide textiles on an industrial scale.

The first underwear products containing “loopamid” are scheduled to be launched in selected Lindex collections in early 2027. The initiative supports Lindex’s goal of using only recycled or sustainably sourced materials by the end of 2026.
