European Bioplastics: Bioplastics association elects new Board

European Bioplastics (EUBP) elected a new Board at its General Assembly on 27 May 2026. The body will lead the association of the European bioplastics industry for the 2026 to 2029 mandate period.

The Board members are Monica Battistella (Taghleef Industries), Judith Hicks (Vioneo), Franz Kraus (Novamont), Myriam Moeyersons (Ingevity), Afsaneh Nabifar (BASF), Celmira Sousa (NatureWorks), Frédéric Van Gansberghe (Futerro), Hugo Vuurens (CJ CheilJedang), and Irina Yarulina (Sulzer).

Franz Kraus and Frédéric Van Gansberghe were elected Co-Chairs. Afsaneh Nabifar will serve as Vice Chair, while Hugo Vuurens will act as Treasurer.

According to the association, the new Board reflects key areas of the European bioplastics value chain, including biobased, biodegradable and compostable materials, packaging, processing, recycling technologies, sustainability, market development and industrial scaling. EUBP also points to a balanced composition in terms of gender, geographical presence and industry representation.

During the new mandate period, the association aims to strengthen the recognition of bioplastics as part of the European bioeconomy and to advocate for reliable framework conditions. Key priorities include regulatory clarity, harmonised implementation of EU legislation, credible sustainability claims, recognition of biogenic carbon, suitable end-of-life pathways, and measures to develop demand for bioplastics applications.

European Bioplastics represents the interests of the bioplastics industry along the value chain. Its members are active in areas involving biobased, biodegradable or compostable plastics, or combinations of these material properties.
